Indications/Uses
Treatment of age-related minor neurological disorders; adjunctive treatment of lower limb arteritis; visual disorders of circulatory origin; certain forms of Parkinson's disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 tab once daily, increase to 2 tab daily in 2 divided doses in severe cases. Parkinson's disease Monotherapy: 3-5 tab in 3-5 divided doses daily. Combination w/ dopa therapy: 1-3 tab in 1-3 divided doses/day. Increase the dose gradually by 1 tab every 3 days.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take at the end of a main meal w/ ½ glass water. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
History of allergy. MI or other serious CV disease. Combination w/ antiemetic neuroleptics. Fructose intolerance, glucose & galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase-isomaltase deficiency.
Special Precautions
Reduce dose in case of dyskinesia. Risk of orthostatic hypotension. Discontinue if abnormal behaviour, impulse control disorders, NMS occurs. Somnolence & episodes of sudden sleep in patients w/ Parkinson's disease. May cause or worsen psychotic disorders. Peripheral edema. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Minor GI disorders; psychotic disorders eg, confusion, hallucinations or agitation; dizziness.
Drug Interactions
Reciprocal antagonism w/ antiemetic neuroleptics, tetrabenazine. Provoke or aggravate psychotic disorders w/ antipsychotic neuroleptics (except clozapine). Increased sedative effect w/ alcohol. Increased central depression w/ other sedatives.
